Do you remember the film The ugly duckling? A film about a duck that doesn’t feels the same as his friends and family. The little pig in this short has the same problem, but a totally different solution.
The short tells the story of a young pig who feels different from his family. He doesn’t know why until a new neighbour moves next door. He feels more a like him and follows him to discover who he wants to be.
Jamon takes place in Spain, which is the homeland of director Ira Lopez. She made this film as a graduation film for the National Film and Television School in the UK.
Lopez won a lot of awards for this film. What makes Jamon so special is that it is a traditional animation with a screen printed background. This is an old way to print different layers of ink into one picture.
