In a world where Daniel Moshel’s hilarious homage to thousands of ambitious YouTube users and video bloggers was a considerable success, it was only a matter of time before there would be a sequel. And boy, a sequel it is: bigger, better, more spectacular and with even more men in leather S&M outfits. This is MeTube 2: August sings Carmina Burana, and it is awesome.
For MeTube, Daniel Moshel started with a simple premise: what if a regular YouTube video of an amateur showcasing his singing talents, went completely off the rails? In the sequel, we see that the same YouTuber has taken his talents outside. But of course, it won’t be long before things start to get… weird — in a leathery kind of way.
Daniel Moshel directed a TV documentary before hitting it big with MeTube in 2013. The film screened on loads of festivals, including our own this year, when it featured in our focus program on Austria. The sequel premiered on the Sundance Film Festival. It looks to be just as much a success as its predecessor. We, for one, can’t wait for Daniel’s next project to complete the trilogy. Where will August go next? Our guess: space!
